Dr. Robert Dodds attended Michigan State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry in the Lyman Briggs School. He subsequently attended Wayne State University, where he obtained his medical doctorate. He did his internship and residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers from 1994 to 1998. Following graduation, he became a member of the Teaching Faculty. He successfully completed his Board Certification, and is currently a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Having dedicated the majority of his professional career to the practice of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Dodds is very proud to be in the first group of physicians nationally (2013) to obtain Board Certification in the Sub-Specialty. Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) was formally recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties when it was approved for formal certification. This certification is dually sponsored by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Urology. Physician's may become certified after successful training in either Obstetrics and Gynecology or Urology.

Medical education has always been a part of Dr. Dodds career path. After becoming a member of the teaching faculty, he has continued to move through the ranks of the program. Currently, he serves as the Residency Program Director. In this administrative role, he is in charge of the resident physicians that are training to become obstetrician gynecologists.

Awards

Dr. Dodds began his education experience by winning the Resident Teacher of the Year Award during all four years of his residency. During his senior year of residency, he also won The Bernard Mandelbaum Award for demonstrated commitment to sustained personal involvement in Obstetrics and Gynecology teaching. As a member of the Teaching Faculty, he has won the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) National Faculty Award and APGO (American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics) Teaching Award multiple times each. He was recognized by the graduating senior residents, winning the James Kornmesser Golden Forceps Award several times. He was also recognized by the Nursing Staff at Providence Hospital, winning the Physicians Excellence Award.

Personal

Doctor Dodds was raised locally and is a graduate of Novi High School. He has had the honor and privilege of being married to his High School sweetheart for over 20 years. He currently lives in Novi with his wife and 2 children. His son and daughter are both carrying on the Spartan tradition by attending Michigan State University!
